Product Description

The Whirlwind MICMUTE-PX is an outstanding active microphone muting box that operates in complete silence. With its advanced circuitry, you can easily mute the mic signal without any audible noise, even when the console channel has high gain settings. It offers three convenient switching modes - PT (Push to Talk), PM (Push to Mute), and PP (Latching Push On; Push Off). Just move the internal jumper to select the mode you need, providing a one - box solution for all your microphone muting needs. The heavy - duty footswitch can also be used with your finger on a desktop. It has a female XLR input and a male XLR output. When there's no signal passing through, the output mutes the connected audio device. The blue LED indicator lights up to show that the mic is on and the signal is flowing. The Micmute PX supplies quiet 48 - Volt phantom power, making it compatible with any condenser microphone. You can turn the phantom power on and off using the rear - panel switch. It runs on 24 VAC/100mA and comes with a wall power supply. To change the switching mode, remove the four screws, find the three 2 - pin headers on the right side of the circuit board, and move the jumper to the desired header. There's also a 3 - pin header to lift the ground from pin 1 of the male output XLR jack.

Using the Whirlwind MICMUTE-PX is easy. First, connect your microphone to the female XLR input and the audio device to the male XLR output. Plug in the wall power supply to provide the necessary 24 VAC/100mA power. If you're using a condenser microphone, turn on the 48 - Volt phantom power with the rear - panel switch. To mute or unmute the microphone, you can use the heavy - duty footswitch, which you can also operate with your finger on a desktop. You can choose from three switching modes: PT (Push to Talk), PM (Push to Mute), or PP (Latching Push On; Push Off). To change the mode, remove the four screws holding the unit together. Locate the three 2 - pin headers on the right side of the circuit board labeled PP, PT, and PM. Move the jumper to the header for the mode you want. There's also a 3 - pin header for lifting the ground from pin 1 of the male output XLR jack if needed. When the blue LED is on, it means the mic is working and the signal is passing through. As for maintenance, keep the unit clean and dry. Don't expose it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If there are any issues, check the power connection and the jumper settings first.
