Product Description
The Whirlwind THS3 Talkback Headphone Box is a top - notch audio device. It features both main and talkback microphone outputs. A latching Mic On/Off switch sends the signal to the main mic output, with a red illumination indicating that the mic output is live. 36 - Volt phantom power is available for condenser mics, and the onboard phantom power enables seamless switching when talkback is activated. The recessed switch for phantom power prevents accidental turn - off. The momentary Cough switch mutes both the mic out and talkback out when pressed, while the momentary Talkback switch routes audio to the talkback output and mutes the mic out. The announcer's microphone goes through a preamp and line driver to deliver line - level signal to the talkback output, and there's a level control for fine - tuning the talkback audio. The Talkback switch lights up green when depressed. The headphone section has two inputs, each assignable to the left, right, or both ears. There are individual volume controls for left and right ears to adjust the overall level of assigned inputs. Input signals can be balanced mono or unbalanced stereo, selectable via a rear - panel switch. It offers both 3 - pin XLR and TRS input jacks for flexible hookups and can drive headphones with impedances from 30 to 600 Ohms to full volume. It comes with a 12 VAC power adapter, model # PS12AC1A. Key features include separate left and right headphone amps with individual volume controls, two headphone signal inputs assignable to either or both ears, balanced or unbalanced inputs on XLR or TRS jacks, a passive Mic Out for reliable on - air use, silent mic output switching, an active line - level Talkback Out with level adjustment, Mic On, Cough, and Talkback control switches, 1/4” TRS or 3.5mm headphone jacks, and an included PS12AC1A power adapter.
