Product Description

The Whirlwind Micmute series provides excellent passive switching solutions. You can easily control the on - off state of a microphone or balanced line signal using a footswitch or finger switch. There are three styles, covering all essential mic control needs. Each style comes in two actuator types: a heavy - duty footswitch (models PT, PM, PP) and a desktop - friendly finger - operated version (models PTD, PMD, PPD). Each box features a female XLR input and a male XLR output. When no signal passes through, the output mutes the connected audio device. All Micmute styles support phantom power for condenser microphones. The Micmute PM and PMD are Push to Mute switches. The input signal is usually on and passes through the box. Press and hold the switch to mute the signal, and it reconnects when released. The Micmute PT and PTD are Push to Talk switches. The input signal is normally disconnected. Press and hold the switch to turn on the signal, and it disconnects when released. The Micmute PP and PPD are latching Push On; Push Off switches. Press and release the switch to toggle the signal on or off. The PP and PPD have an indicator LED that lights up blue when phantom power is present and the mic is live. The Micmute PPD uses an indicating rocker switch with a red bar when the signal is on.

Using the Whirlwind Micmute is a breeze. First, connect your microphone to the female XLR input and the audio device to the male XLR output. Depending on the model you choose, the operation mode is different. For the Push to Mute models (PM and PMD), your signal will be on by default. Just step on or press the switch when you want to mute it. Release the switch, and the signal is back. If you have a Push to Talk model (PT and PTD), the signal is off at first. Press the switch to let the signal pass through. When you're done, release it, and the signal stops. The latching Push On; Push Off models (PP and PPD) work by simply pressing and releasing the switch to change the signal state. Notice that the indicator LED on the PP and PPD models only works when there's phantom power. Keep your Micmute clean and dry. Avoid dropping it or exposing it to extreme temperatures. If you're not using it for a long time, store it in a safe place. This way, you can enjoy reliable performance from your Whirlwind Micmute for a long time.
